Kyrgyz mountains

Published: 25 september 2012

88 grand mountain ranges of powerful systems - Tien Shan, translated into Russian as "heavenly mountains" stretch out by long chains from east to west.
The Central Tian Shan is the tallest and most majestic part of the Tien Shan mountain system. This is the most picturesque region of the Tien-Shan, a complex system of interlacing ridges (Terskey Ala-Too, Sary-Jaz, Kui-Lyu, Tengri-Tag, Enilchek, Kakshaal-Too, meridian ridge, etc.), crowned by the majestic peaks of the most northern of the world's highest mountains - Lenin Peak (7,134 m), Victory Peak (7439 m) and the fantastic pyramid Khan Tengri (7010 m, probably, the most beautiful and difficult to climb peak of the Tien Shan).
The Central Tien Shan is the most attractive area for climbers. The most popular points of the ridge are the regions of Tengri-Tag and Khan-Tengri Peak ("Lord of Heaven", 7010 m), Tomul Pass, Victory Peak (7,439 m) and the glacier Inylchek, the kettle of the unique Merzbacher lake in the eastern part of the mountain range, the peak of Semenov-Tien-Shan (4875 m), Free Korea peak (4740 m) and the famous Crown Peak(4855 m) in the Kyrgyz Range, Peak Kommunism (7505 m) and Peak Korzhenevskaya (7105 m, this is the Pamirs, but few of the climbers would agree to pass these great mountains), the ice walls of the ridge Kakshaal-Too (Kokshaal-Tau), which are composed of three peaks with a height of 6000 m. and about a dozen peaks higher than 5000 m., an area of Ak-Shyyrak and many others, not less attractive regions.
In spite of the severe climate and the mountain landscape, the territory of the Tien Shan had been inhabited since ancient times; the evidences are the numerous stone statues, petroglyphs and burial grounds abundantly scattered throughout the territory of this mountainous country. The historical and cultural monuments of the medieval period – the fortified settlements like Koshoy – Korgon are widely presented. They appeared on the base of the nomadic camps, khan headquarters and caravan roads from the Fergana valley through the Tien Shan. One of the most famous and popular tourist objects of this region is the caravanserai Tash-Rabat (X-XII centuries), built in the region which is difficult of access, but picturesque gorge Kara-Koyun. Saimaluu Tash or Saimaly Tash ("patterned stones") is also widely known. It is the gallery of rock paintings in the same gorge (more than 107,000 petroglyphs of the II-III millenniums BC. E.) near Kazarman, stone sculptures Kyr-Jol (VI -VIII centuries.) on the shores of the Lake Song-Kyol, the petroglyphs of the Chumysh rocks (III-I thousand years BC. Fergana Range), and numerous rock paintings of the Issyk-Kul, Naryn, and Talas regions. The ancient caravan route through the Torugart Pass (3752 m. height) worth of attention deserves its attention. This extensive route  (the whole length is about 700 km.) from Central Asia to the Chinese Kashgar (Sinkiang Uighur Autonomous Region) goes along the cold gorges and narrow passes Terskey Ala-Too, Moldo-Too, At-Bashy and Maidantag, through the grand and beautiful landscapes and old caravan paths of the Great Silk Road.
