Group visa: a requirement for a group of 5 tourists traveling together. The visa comes up as a list of pre-printed A4 format with a sticker on it. You can present it upon arrival at the airport in Kyrgyzstan.

If you’re coming by car, train or bus, you can’t use a group visa, because there are no consular posts on the border points. You should follow the default way and get a typical visa by LOI.

LOI (Letter of invitation)

It's required for getting a tourist visa. Almost every passport holder needs to provide it to the tourism agent by request.

These countries’ citizens don’t need to bother about getting an LOI:  Albania, Andorra, Argentina, Brazil. Bulgaria, Chile, Cyprus, Indonesia, Israel, Macedonia, Mexico, Montenegro, Oman, Philippines, Romania, San Marino, South Africa, Serbia, Thailand, Turkey, Venezuela.

Citizens of these countries also do not need to register at local OVIR. All others do. It takes 2 weeks for LOI to arrive and after notification, you can apply for an E-Visa.

Important information: please, do not specify that you’re unemployed or not married, because of the local social prejudices it's not recommended to do so. Tourists coming from the Indian subcontinent, Arabic countries and Africa could be asked to apply for a visa through the embassy. There you will probably be asked to pay the fee in cash.
