 Issyk Museum

  Issyk Museum was opened in 1979. This is the main object of the Issyk-Kul region including the building in the center of the city, as well as reserve covering the territory from the village Kara-Oi to the village Hutor.

  The museum exposition has the collection devoted to the history of the region from ancient times to the present day. Here you can also see such exhibits as jewelry, tools, weapons, utensils and more. Thanks to these findings, we can better understand and learn about the life of the ancient inhabitants of Issyk-Kul. In addition, the museum fund also has items found at the bottom of “Baikal”, as well as monuments of written culture related to the epic Manas.

  The second part of the museum is the museum-reserve, including more than 1,000 stones with ancient paintings. The petroglyphs are unique because of big size, uniqueness of the scenes and relief image of a deer. But the most distinctive is the central petroglyph with the image of a herd of mountain goats. These figures are considered the largest I Central Asia and represented with extraordinary expressiveness.

  There is a famous archeological finding so called “Golden Man” found in Kazakhstan. Today, Issyk Museum is the place where you can see interesting and ancient petroglyphs, that’s why it is visited by thousand tourists every year.
