Chatyr-Kul Lake

  Chatyr-Kul Lake (from kyrgyz means «Divine lake») is a closed and the most largest of the lakes in central Tian-Shan in Kyrgyzstan. The maximum summer temperature is +24 ° C and the minimum temperature in winter is -50 °. The climate is continental. The length of the lake is 23 kilometre, width is 11 kilometre and the average volume of water is 8,5 kilometre. The water is clean and transparent. The shores are marshy in the south-eastern side but in the north side the shores are high, because the rocks are almost come close to the water.   The total area of the lake is 500 square kilometre, its depth is 20 metre. It is located at an altitude of 3500 meters above sea level. In the surroundings of the picturesque lake you can see animals: mountain goats, snow leopards, marmots.
